————–Dissent Guild Application—————

BASICS:

NAME: Mick

AGE: 31

CLASS AND SPEC/S: Hunter, survival

LINK TO ARMORY: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/ch…..ter/simple

PLEASE INCLUDE A WOL PARSE WITH YOUR APPLICATION:

Last HM Ultrax – http://www.worldoflogs.com/rep…..038;e=8793

RAIDING EXPERIENCE: -

Tell us about when you started raiding, what content you have cleared, what heroic-mode content you have experienced?

I started raiding in 20ZG. Progression cleared ZG, MC, BWL, AQ20, AQ40 to Twins, Raz in Naxx. Progression cleared Kara, Gruuls, Mag, SSC, TK, BT. Quit raiding when Scumwell launched.

Casualled my way through bits of wrath content. My druid ended up in Boytoy's pug that ended up as some kind of Schism / Red Sun alts run. I think we got Putri down HM as our max progression. I dont really remember.

Came back to wow for the D3 offer a couple of weeks before DS launched. Full clear of FL normal (woopdeedoo). Our 1 night per week raid group is 5/8HM with a 9% best try on warmaster.

You should ignore my armory HM FL kills. They were a mount buy from Gigantor. Totes didnt die on HM Rag though :)

What is your most memorable raiding moment and why?

Getting sheared by Illidan quite late in what would have been our first ever kill. For those not familiar with 70 prot war mechanics you would use shield block every 6 seconds (its cooldown) by default. For Illidan instead you had to save it to block shear. In the excitement of an almost-kill I fell back into autoplay mode and tapped shield block. Despite a magnificent clutch save by our best rogue, who evasion tanked it to the next transformation, our druid could not BR as he was out of reagents (yes, really). We didnt end up killing it for a few hours after that.

What's the most time you've spent wiping on a boss? How did you feel during this time and what were your reactions?

Kael, months. It broke and reformed our guild, as we lost key players several times (including two main tanks). The latter prompted me to switch from my hunter main to my warrior alt, and I ended up as main tank by the time the reformed guild made it back to serious Kael attempts.

Have you ever been a raid leader, class leader or do you any other exceptional qualities you can think of?

Raid lead, class lead at 60. Officer at 70. Raid lead at 85. I'm a pretty cool guy, I kill aliens and doesnt afraid of anything.

Do you commit to attending at least 75% of our raids?:

Yes. I would expect 100%, sans disasters, baby teething problems or internode becoming interdown again.

COMMITMENT & FUNCTION:

Is your gear optimal? Have you reforged/gemmed and enchanted correctly for ultimate performance? What websites or tools do you use to determine this?

Yes. I use Femaledwarf for stat modelling, wowreforge.com for reforge solutions and maxdps.com as a gear list reference (though I ignore maxdps's rankings, which are garbage).

Where do you go to research your class mechanics, BIS list etc?:

In addition to the above, elitistjerks, though even that seems flaky these days. I used to be a big regular on the wow hunter forum back in vanilla and BC, but the amount of time you spend arguing with idiots who are telling everyone wrong info just ruined those forums. You couldnt pay me to read a class forum anymore.

Where do you go to research current raid content?:

Fatboss. Best youtube guides ever.

List your most used keybinds and/or Clique settings:

I am left hand mouse, right hand keyboard. I activate vent with a foot pedal.

F – Cobra shot

G – Explosive Shot

R – Black Arrow

Ctrl F – Mark

Ctrl G – kill shot

Ctrl R – serpent sting

2 – arcane shot

Ctrl 2 – multishot

MWU – hawk

MWD – fox

MW3 – Cheetah

See the screenshot in the mods section for more. All used actions are keybound.

How can you improve yourself as a raider?

I find that playing alts improves me as a raider. It gives you different perspectives on encounters and develops situational awareness.

Comment on your lag (fps and latency) during boss encounters:

30 FPS under stress. 200-220 MS is standard.

Do you have a working microphone and are you willing to vocally participate in boss fights to aid the other 24 people?

 Yes, yes.

What addons do you use to raid? (Feel free to include a screenshot of your UI)

Elvui, Serenity, AzCastBar, DBM, PAC, MSBT, Eavesdrop, Recount, Elkanos, OmniCC, ExtraCD, other assorted rubbish. Screenshot -

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-…..80949.jpg/

Active PAC auras visible around my toon's noggin are purple (black arrow available), green (serpent sting absent), red (HM absent).

OFFSPEC KNOWLEDGE

Is your offspec for PvE and how confident are you playing it?: No, its is PVP MM. I am confident in all three specs.

Offspec Gear level: N/A

Any Info you would like to mention about your other spec: I can play my restoration druid in lieu of an offspec. She is 394 resto. I am supremely confident as a healer. I use a mouseover Grid.

PERSONALITY AND CULTURE:

How often do you post chat in Trade, General or LFG?

Often.

What are the most important aspects of raiding for you

(a) maximum progression

(b) the social interaction/teaming

(c) getting new gear

(d) getting ranked high on WoL and/or

(e) other (please specify)?

A all the way. Show me the progression corpses.

Pick a question that you like from another guild's application or one that you wish we'd ask and answer it here:

Who are your current guild and why are you leaving? Horsemen o le Apolypse, and our raid team is collapsing. Our carry healer got a job and cant raid, our Spriest wants out of raiding to spend more time with his 1yo son, our infantryman warlock is going out field and our 1 night per week raid schedule is at the mercy of our Main Tank's rotating roster. We think there is little to no chance of finding 3 replacements when we cant even say "raids are thursdays", etc.

Why <Dissent> over another guild?

8pm starts. Bub and wife are normally asleep by this time and it means I can do 3 nights without causing friction.

Give us brief rundown on your previous guild experience – please be respectful.

Divine Guardians (60) – first guild. Hunter officer. Merged into

Glory (60-70). Hunter officer, senior officer (we had no GM, just a group of senior officers). Transferred due to a shift in my work hours meaning I couldnt raid with US guild anymore.

Visne Saltair (70). Joined after transferring to Barthilas. RL friends were here. Casual guild.

No Dice (70). Joined just before the raid core merged into

Lets Make Babies (70) (and other names). Kael broke this guild, which reformed as

Voodoo (70). Ended up an officer. Quit raiding after BT.

Horsemen o le Apolocypse (80-85). RL friends guild. 4.3 was the first content patch we have ever regularly raided as a group.

What other activities do you enjoy IN-GAME?

Alts, gouging on the AH, PVP.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Anything else you would like to mention that our questions haven't covered?

I have a young daughter (9 weeks). She currently sleeps 6pm to 3am, which is well outside your raid windows, however it could be an issue as she gets older. Generally wifey will get her if there were problems but say she is up screaming for hours over teething I might have to apologise my way out of a raid so I can give her a spell.

I am (was really, since its been a few seasons since I logged in) a masters random SC2 player on both SEA and NA. I peaked in the 60s in the SEA top200 as zerg-only.

I like traffic lights, but only when they're green.

I have a 387 Spriest that I would consider playing instead if it were required – Powrwrdbeers. Spriests are amazing fun. Did 30.5k on it on HM Ultrax at 383 gear level. Ridiculous class!

I couldn't find anything wrong with your app and I've even looked into the StarCraft 2 clan that you were in.

I'm with Polar, Very nice post indeed and From your Logs you're DPS and ability to avoid Fire is nice!

Tho I know you raided 10 man is there a reason you are using Starcatcher Compass over Vial of shadows? Hasnt dropped Or Personal choice?

Also you might find Pownz and I are Mastery fanboys over haste, I know it makes a little difference. Whats your feeling on haste vs Mastery?

Yeah I think we're pretty happy to take you on – even better you are on our server.

Don't get saved, we may throw you in the deep end this evening =)

Message myself or someone else in guild for invite =)

I was concerned about the haste trinket also as I know it's not met with much glee when it drops for us EVERY FREAKIN WEEK, but yeah, I can't imagine that this is ground-breaking and assume it's just bad luck with vial of shadows also.

No such luck on the Vial dropping so far. I would use the 384 over the 397 Compass if I could get my hands on the darned thing. We have had two rare-drop DPS trinkets drop ever in all our runs, which has been extremely frusterating. Funny story is that 3 weeks ago our resto druid couldnt come and we were having a dog of a time pugging a replacement, so I ended up healing on my druid and we pugged a hunter in. Naturally 410 Vial dropped, the hunter out-rolled our rogue and that was that.

Without looking at Zeheras I think LFR comes in at a 50 DPS upgrade on Starcatcher, scaling up to something like 1000 for a heroic vial.

Fiddling with Zeheras I found that haste tends to have local plateaus where it becomes better or worse than mastery. Over a couple of hours of fiddling with it and different reforge solutions I eventually settled on 1867 haste, locked that in, then minimized mastery for crit. It was the highest DPS solution I ended up with on my scratchpad. I did try other solutions, including max crit then full mastery, full mastery, full haste then max crit, full haste then max mastery, and other haste points, but the 1867 solution came out on top.

Whether the scratchpad numbers are actually reliable in game play conditions is always questionable, but youve got to hang your hat somewhere. I dont think my gear has shifted for a couple of runs but I am posting new PBs in most fights after moving to the higher haste plateau (I used to use max crit, min haste, because you couldnt actually push under the 770 haste barrier anway), so the reforge seems to have helped.

I had a poke around on ElitistJerks about these issues but the site is a bit annoying now. I had 3 adds playing at me at once, could not turn them off and they just looped endlessly. All that so I could read pages of a couple of guys arguing over focus modelling, as though you could make use of ToTH and have a set-in-stone rotation anyway. Thats why I threw in the towel there and just went and played with Zeheras for a couple of hours :)

I like your app too (I'm sure you are a terrific player), however as Polar has said plenty of times before, if progression is your number one priority (as you state), then be aware that Dissent is not a hardcore guild – we have a steady-as-she-goes approach, and raids are sometimes cancelled. We finish strictly on time, even if close to a kill etc..

We are just about to start on H Spine, so you may not see fresh corpses for awhile, but it will be satisfying to get there.

Also, with the risk of teetering on bad taste (moreso than usual)
If any of your fellow guild members (of the damage dealing variety) are also looking for a new home, point them in our direction.

We currently have DPS openings and if you guys are interested in raiding together, we might be able to house a few more bodies if they are of a similar standard to you =)

(ok, I feel dirty like i just aired an infomercial,  didn't I have a recruitment officer for this? beuller?)
